Governor Gary Johnson Steps Down As Honorary Chair of the Our America Initiative

In his bid for the Presidency, Gary Johnson as stepped down as the honorary chairman of Our America Initiative.  This type of move shows real commitment to the campaign and spreading the libertarian message all across this country.  This is a unique opportunity for the Libertarian Party and all resources and time need to be spent on taking down the two most hated Presidential candidates off recent history, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

Judge Jim Gray (Ret) Assumes Leadership of Advocacy Group

June 3, 2016, Salt Lake City, UT — Governor Gary Johnson has announced that he is turning over the Honorary Chairmanship of the Our America Initiative to Judge Jim Gray (Ret), a nationally-recognized advocate for civil liberties and drug law reform.

Gray, a respected author and public speaker, served on California’s Orange County Superior Court from 1989 to 2010. He has served as an honorary board member of the Our America Initiative, and was the Libertarian Party’s nominee for Vice-President in the 2012 election.

The Our America Initiative is a 501(c)4 issue advocacy organization which promotes the liberty movement in all 50 states. Our America is also coordinating and providing funding for a legal challenge to the Commission on Presidential Debates. It was founded in 2009.

Announcing his decision to step down as Honorary Chair, Johnson said, “Obviously, the demands of a campaign for President are great, and I want to insure that the good work of the Our America Initiative continues as I focus on the campaign. Jim Gray is not only a friend and colleague, but a highly-respected leader of the liberty movement. I am grateful to him for taking on this new role, and have absolute confidence that he will make Our America an even more effective player on the national stage.”

Gray is the author of three books. After earning his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his law degree from USC, Judge Gray served as a staff Judge Advocate and criminal defense attorney in the U.S. Navy’s JAG Corps. Following his Navy service, for which he was awarded Vietnam Service and Combat Action Ribbons, Gray worked as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. In 1983, Governor George Deukmejian appointed Gray to the Santa Ana Municipal Court, and in 1989, elevated him to the Orange County Superior Court. He retired from the Superior Court in 2010.

Charles Frohman, Grassroots Director for the Our America Initiative, will assume additional leadership responsibilities in the organization as its Chief Operating Officer.
