The choice that is getting a 92% response is that the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees open carry.

Despite what the mainstream media and the liberal elite in Washington might have you think, the overwhelming majority of Americans support the right to bear arms and support the idea of open carry in public.

Our rights as citizens are pretty basic rights that can’t be taken from us by a tyrannical power, and the 2nd Amendment is key to that assurance.  It is the 2nd Amendment that allows us to have the other amendments in the Bill of Rights.  The moment a government takes away the ability for an individual to defend themselves the country, or society, will fall into a tyrannical state.

Don’t let anyone fool you; the American people support their right to bear arms and their right to protect themselves from anyone that might do them harm.  Whether that is another individual or a over powering government.

  1. I don’t know their methodology, but if it was true, people would be packing everywhere in public. They aren’t, so the poll result must not be correct. There’s a big difference between the right to buy a gun, and the appropriateness of carrying them in social situations.

Personally, if I went to some event that wasn’t specifically gun-related, and most folks were carrying, I would leave ASAP. Far, far too many untrained idiots own them. That’s fine if they want to shoot each other or themselves at home, but I don’t want to be in range.

  2. Not necessarily. The laws and regulations we have now were not voted on by the general public. They were voted on by elected legislatures and then signed into law by Governors and Presidents. If what you were saying is true then most of the country would have been OK with the Iraq war since that’s what our government did.

  4. Robert A. Heinlein said, “An armed society is a polite society.” I concur. You will never get bumped less and apologized to more than at a crowded gun show. It’s not fear, it’s respect. Second Amendment supporters tend to address their own problems and not start stupid shit.

    • But why should I have to be armed to go dancing, or see a movie, or in church, or to buy milk at the grocery store, or to get a beer with friends after work? I used to perform MRI exams. You can’t have ANY metal even in the same room! This isn’t 1890, and my state isn’t frontier territory any more.

      • You don’t have to carry. No one is forcing you to do anything. Just like you WILL NOT infringe on my rights and FORCE me not to do so. Also, your pro gun control argument is: “but what about the MRI’s? Lmao. That’s the weakest, most ridiculous argument I’ve ever heard. You don’t keep your gun on you while you are getting an MRI, genius.

      • My argument, if you had bothered to read my previous comment, is that too many untrained, unqualified people own and carry guns. That makes it more dangerous, not less, for everyone. Your attention-deficit disability is not a virtue, but I’m not going to insult you for having it.

People with mental illness and domestic violence histories, and those justly suspected of terrorism shouldn’t have the same access to guns as law-abiding people. And owning a gun should require at least as much training as driving a car, with a need to re-qualify every few years. Eyesight fades, folks get dementia etc. Safe storage and trigger locks should be required for any gun owner with children too.

The general public’s right to life is legally superior to the 2A’s limited guarantee of unimpeded rights (for a regulated militia, the original says) to bear arms.
