According to CNN and the new Ballotpedia polling of battleground states across the United States, Governor Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate for President, is pulling in 13% support from the hotly contested states in this country.
According to Ballotpedia’s battleground poll, Clinton leads Trump:
- 51% to 37% in Florida
- 45% to 41% in Iowa
- 50% to 33% in Michigan
- 48% to 38% in North Carolina
- 46% to 37% in Ohio
- 49% to 35% in Pennsylvania
- 45% to 38% in Virginia
Her leads held at nearly the same margins when Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson was included in the poll. And Clinton led Trump 48% to 37% when all states were factored together. With Johnson included, Clinton led Trump 44% to 34%, with Johnson at 13%.
Right now the polling is all over the place with the dynamics of this election. That fact that pollsters are halfheartedly putting Gary Johnson into the polls is not conducive to real hard numbers. We constantly look at national polling when it comes to Gary Johnson, and rightfully so because that is what gets him into the debates, but we also need to analyze the key states that can make or break this election.
In those states, the Governor seems to be polling quite well for a third party candidate and the major media outlets will ignore that. They will bring Johnson on and sort of mention that he is doing well in the polls, but then grill him on ridiculous questions about him being a spoiler and why he likes pot.
There is a lot of work to do at this stage, and we need everyone to really push the Libertarian message out to as many people as you can.
