Meet Steve Scheetz, Candidate for Libertarian Party Vice Chairman

1 a

Former Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania Steve Scheetz, has added his name to already growing crop of candidates to become Vice Chairman of the Libertarian Party.

Scheetz is the current Treasurer of the Radical Caucus of the Libertarian Party and ran for Pennsylvania’s 8th district Representative in 2016.

The main focus of Scheetz’s Vice Chairman campaign is unity. He claims “I have seen many Libertarians become bogged down with one issue that defines their goals within the party because that one issue, to them overshadows the positives, they refuse to work with other Libertarians on the other side of that one issue.”

The infighting among the members of the party of great concern to the Pennsylvania Libertarian and because of it he feels “we are too busy fighting each other as opposed to actually going out and working on the various campaigns.”

For those of you who missed it, my message, is one of coming together to advance the Libertarian cause. The theme? “Unity With Principle.” In working with Libertarians here in Pennsylvania, as Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania, I learned, quickly, that there will always be things to argue about even when we are on the same page regarding the various issues! I worked with people who distrusted me in the beginning, who I distrusted as well, and the more we worked together, the more respect we gained for each other.

There are others in the race as well, Alex Merced who I know and respect, Jennifer Gray, who I don’t know, but given her association with Larry Sharpe, I am certain she will prove to be a wonderful candidate! I have seen many Libertarians become bogged down with one issue that defines their goals within the party because that one issue, to them overshadows the positives, they refuse to work with other Libertarians on the other side of that one issue.

This past year, we have all witnessed some very public fopauxs. I am not going to re-hash, that much is as pointless as the grudges carried as a result.

Moving forward, we have a great deal of work to do, not much time to make any of it happen, YET we NEED it to happen. We have been a political party for 46 years, and while we have had candidates winning elections here and there, we are not making the inroads that we should be because we are too busy fighting each other as opposed to actually going out and working on the various campaigns. Here in PA, we won some elections due to the fact that we went door to door. We worked the polls, we WON CHALLENGES to our signatures in court! This is what we NEED to be focusing on. Larry Sharpe is running for high office in NY AS A LIBERTARIAN! He needs as much help as possible! I am running for Congress in a district where my opponent (who is more Libertarian than Republican) is about to be primaried by his own party because he won’t play ball. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are walking down THAT road, as a group.

I have mentioned many needs, and the biggest need remains the simple fact that we need to stop the blood letting, start working together, and make our party what we all know that it should be.

This is not an easy task, and it requires all of us to be willing to work together moving forward, and I intend to do just that.

Peace Love and Liberty,

Steve Scheetz
