As the dust settles from the 2016 Presidential Election we are not getting a picture of the makeup that will be the Donald Trump Administration. From multiple cabinet picks that some people are praising, while others are questioning the decision the President-Elect is making are consuming the news cycle.
One cabinet pick, in particular, is causing alarm among freedom loving individuals all across this country. On November 8, eight states voted to legalize either recreational or medical marijuana. The Obama Administration has taken a back burner to a state like Colorado and Washington, who were the first to legalize recreational pot, and instead defected to the states for guidance and enforcement of their laws.
Donald Trump has picked Senator Jeff Sessions to lead the Justice Department and in turn enforce federal law against the 50 states.
From The Politico:
By nominating Senator Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III for attorney general, President-elect Donald J. Trump is about to put into the nation’s top law enforcement job a man with a long and antagonistic attitude toward marijuana. As a U.S. Attorney in Alabama in the 1980s, Sessions said he thought the KKK “were OK until I found out they smoked pot.” In April, he said, “Good people don’t smoke marijuana,” and that it was a “very real danger” that is “not the kind of thing that ought to be legalized.” Sessions, who turns 70 on Christmas Eve, has called marijuana reform a “tragic mistake” and criticized FBI Director James Comey and Attorneys General Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch for not vigorously enforcing a the federal prohibition that President Obama has called “untenable over the long term.” In a floor speech earlier this year, Senator Sessions said: “You can’t have the President of the United States of America talking about marijuana like it is no different than taking a drink… It is different….It is already causing a disturbance in the states that have made it legal.”
Freedom will now be under assault. Senator Sessions is no friend to Liberty and seems to be on a mission to stop free people from partaking in a recreation that is no worse than drinking alcohol.
Trump’s Administration is in a position to turn back any precedent that Obama has in place when it comes to both recreational and medical marijuana. What most people fail to miss is that even though states have legalized the plant for recreational consumption, the federal law is still in effect that outlaws marijuana distribution and consumption.
January 20th all of this could change. The incoming Attorney General has made it clear that people who smoke pot are not good people. He has it in his mind that this should be illegal and enforced to the highest degree. He will now be the top cop for the United States and will have tremendous power to affect change all across this country.
Liberty and freedom are on the cusp of a real showdown. It will take an army of freedom ninja’s to stop this new radical approach that will be housed in the Justice Department. The protection of our natural rights and property are at stake.
