When the state of Colorado became the first in the country to legalize recreational marijuana there were many predictions of failures and rampant crime. Since that day there has been a decrease in crime and now huge revenues for the Rocky Mountain state.
The Colorado Department of Revenue says that the state of Colorado made a record $1.5 Billion in sales of both medical and recreational marijuana in 2017.
The Denver Post reported that the data which was released on Friday says that of that 1.5 Billion in sales, 1.09 Billion came from the adult use sales and the other 416.52 million came from medicinal sales.
With this record-breaking year, the state of Colorado collected over $247 Million in tax revenue.
Despite the many critics from years ago about legalizing marijuana a state like Colorado is setting trends and showing the country that legalization is possible. It is about freedom and choice. Business is flourishing in this state and free people are making money!
Time for the Federal government to get on board and realize the benefits from legalization.
