Last week Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico, announced his run for the United States Senate in New Mexico as a Libertarian.
Today Emerson College released a poll that showed Governor Johnson polling in second place behind Democrat incumbent Martin Heinrich in first place, with 39% of the vote. Libertarian Gary Johnson follows with 21%, more than any Libertarian in history. Republican Mick Rich is in a distant third with only 11%. 30% of those polled are undecided.
We wrote about yesterday how Johnson could change the face of the American political landscape and this shows that he is already close to doing that.
This type of victory could really put the Libertarian Party on the map and give them the political clout they need to push forward in other elections. Fundraising would go up and so will membership and higher profile candidates.
We will be keeping an eye on this race and updating in the weeks to come.
Gary Johnson is a smart individual, but he was unprepared when he ran in 2016 for president. The Libertarian Party needs to do everthing in their power to get him prepared for debates on current events, both foreign and domestic. The LP can not expect the undecideds to vote for Johnson just because he is not a D o R. They need a reason to vote LP or I.

The US is a police state now. Americans should be out in the streets with pitchforks and torches, but instead they would rather shut up, cover their ears, and put their heads in the sand.
Weird.

So explain the pitchforks and torches. Going to stab those that disagree and burn their homes? That not very Libertarian!
